The latest collaboration from the Lovebirds Berlin Studio Hub is here! This time Lovebirds joins forces with Uri Gincel, one of the most well-known and prolific jazz musicians of the city of Berlin. Gincel arrived in Berlin over 12 years ago fresh from Tel Aviv and has been shaking up the music scene in the city ever since. Whether it’s his highly acclaimed Tuesday Jam Session - which he has been running for 7 years - playing live shows for acts like the mighty Jazzanova, or his many adventures in various genres of house, techno and soul, this talented guy is all over the place. . The ‘Fly Away EP’ is the first electronic club-oriented material they have created together.

Title track ‘Fly Away’ is a wild and wonderful trip which develops through four different stages: A deep synth pad over a live disco groove then drops into a smooth Rhodes break down which after a short trip into electronic rave, lands in a field of a beautiful arpeggiated Italo synth anthem. Vibe wise, ‘Playing Games’ lives more in the traditional house come deep house realm. It’s built around a luscious Rhodes lick that moves back and forth into deep reverberation. A killer synth bassline, some groovy TR808 patterns and a punchy boogie groove turns this into a proper weapon on the dance floor.

This EP closes out with ‘Tuna Melts My Heart’. A beatless, atmospheric cut created by just three instruments: the Fender Rhodes, a Prophet 5 Pad, and a Korg 700 bass line, all recorded in just one take on top of each other. When it’s right its right. A melancholic, film score style beauty! The connecting line of this whole EP is the Korg 700 synth which was Korgs’ first ever synth in 1973. A characterful beast of a synth full of punch and fatness.
